Pre-announcement and Call for Papers
2013 FIRS - Financial Intermediation Research Society Conference

(new submission deadline in light of Hurricane Sandy)
May 30-June 2, 2013, Dubrovnik, Croatia

After seven successful conferences (Capri 2004, Shanghai 2006, Anchorage 2008, Prague 2009, Florence 2010, Sydney 2011, and Minneapolis 2012), the Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS) is pleased to announce that the next conference will be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, May 30 (opening reception)-June 2, 2013.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS: You are kindly invited to submit papers to be considered for presentation at the 2013 FIRS Conference. As in Past years, the conference will cover a broad range of topics. Both theoretical and empirical papers in all areas of finance are welcome. It is anticipated that most participants will be from universities, central banks, regulatory agencies and international financial organizations. While the original submission deadline was November 1, 2012, we have extended it to November 10, 2012 in light of the power outages along the eastern seaboard in the U.S. due to Hurricane Sandy that have caused many to lose their Internet access and also experience other displacements. The submission fee is $50. We start accepting submissions on September 15, 2012. As in the past, please go the FIRS website (see link below) to submit your paper. There is no limit on the number of submissions by a single author.

CONFERENCE DETAILS: The conference will begin with a reception the evening of Thursday, May 30, and conclude at lunchtime, Sunday, June 2. The venue will be the Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik hotel, which offers picturesque views of the Adriatic coast in the medieval city of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is a beautiful resort town, is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, and its Old City offers a rich heritage of historical monuments.
