Visiting Professor Position - Associate Department Chair

The Department of Accounting invites applications for a visiting professor position to serve as an Associate Department Chair, beginning in the Fall 2012.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates who have earned a doctoral degree in accounting, and who have the following competencies and experience:
- At least four years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Qualified to be a core faculty member
- Experience in higher education management

JOB DESCRIPTION: Teaching responsibilities will include a four course per year teaching load. All teaching areas will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates having a demonstrated capacity to teach upper-level and advanced financial accounting, and to provide flexibility across different areas of accounting. Candidate is expected to maintain AQ (academically qualified) status for AACSB accreditation purposes. All areas of research ill be considered, but preference will be given to behavioral accounting or financial archival research.

Responsibilities as the Associate Department Chair will include assisting the Department Chair with certain personnel matters, fostering relationships with alumni and recruiters, developing teaching schedules for Department programs, managing curriculum review and change proposals for Department programs, budget development and monitoring. This position is also responsible for: serving as an operational officer of the Department to address day-to-day issues; serving as the primary point-person in the Department with respect to student advising; facilitating recruitment of instructors and students for Department programs; coordinating and communicating with personnel (School and University) on Departmental matters; overseeing, managing and reporting on AACSB accreditation maintenance processes and activities of the Department.

Salary is competitive. Length of the contract is negotiable. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Department has a continued commitment to enhance the diversity of its student body, faculty, and curriculum. This position is contingent on final funding approval.
