University of Gothenburg Governance & Local Development Institute Research Paper Series

The Program on Governance and Local Development (GLD) Working Paper Series addresses a diverse range of topics related to critical local governance issues, including service delivery, social institutions, elections, political participation, security, gender, and migration. The research published in the series features a blend of methodological approaches from researchers across the world.

GLD is a research program based at the University of Gothenburg, focusing on the local factors driving governance and development. The program is dedicated to international collaboration and strengthening networks of researchers and policymakers that conduct and use scientifically rigorous, policy-relevant research aimed at promoting human welfare. GLD has developed a new approach to the measurement, analysis and improvement of local governance through implementation of the Local Governance Performance Index (LGPI); brings scholars and policymakers together through workshops, conferences and joint research activities; and disseminates findings through academic publications, policy briefs and reports, public presentations, podcasts and social media, and the GLD Working Paper Series.
