In cooperation with Technical University of Berlin, the Sustainability Research & Policy Network (SRPN) is pleased to announce the 1st International Conference on Towards a Better Quality of Life eJournal. This eJournal is available to all subscribers at no charge and contains abstracts of the meeting papers with links to the full text in the SSRN eLibrary.


The 1st International Conference "Towards a Better Quality of Life" was organized by Housing Building National Research Center (HBRC), Egypt, and Technische Universität Berlin Campus El Gouna (TUBCG), held in El Gouna, Egypt 24th-26th of November 2017.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

- Determining urban challenges of the next decades affecting human settlements in light of the coherent QOL paradox of society, and capturing knowledge and best practices that offer innovative solutions to local, regional and international challenges.

- Revolutionizing the way of thinking and planning for the development of resilient buildings and cities by tackling approaches for regional and local design principles and new directions in city planning, urban and architecture design and moving in the direction of participatory design and socially-driven architecture, informed by local initiatives and socially-minded processes that empower communities.

- Highlighting the need of good governance supported by a strong policy framework and guiding principles and moving towards sustainable education and best practices at all levels.

The conference themes and papers reflected these objectives. The three main themes were:
