The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the heart of the European University Institute (EUI). Its mission is to conduct high quality research on the dynamics of European integration broadly defined and Europe's global role. The objective is to contribute to understanding patterns of continuity, change and transformation within the Union, its members, the neighbourhood and the global level. The RSCAS conducts theoretical, normative, analytical and applied policy research in a number of domains and draws on the disciplines present at the EUI, namely economics, history, law, political and social sciences to foster a rich, diverse and creative intellectual community. Building on its core strengths and responding to the big European and global questions of our time, the Robert Schuman Centre concentrates its focus on three major themes: Integration, Governance and Democracy; Regulating markets and governing money; 21st Century world politics and Europe. Our Working Papers series reflects the work-in-progress at the RSCAS.
