SSRN’s Motherhood Special Topic Hub provides a curated view into new early-stage research addressing issues facing mothers and mother figures. From dealing with demanding work schedules and creating a healthy work-life balance, economic concerns such as the motherhood penalty and wage gap, social pressures to be the perfect mother and “cherish every moment,” balancing quality time with children and independent interests, family pressures including the care of elderly and ailing relatives, and finding time to take care of their own health, both mothers who work outside the home and stay-at-home mothers face many challenges that affect the way they take care of themselves and their families. This hub presents curated insights from many disciplines that may inform the ongoing conversation about maternal health and well-being.
