Associate Dean
Thompson Rivers University (TRU) seeks an experienced, strong, innovative leader to guide and support the Faculty of Law in its research, teaching and service activities. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean will have responsibilities in the administration, leadership and the development of the Faculty. The Associate Dean will represent the Faculty regionally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
The Associate Dean will play a key role in support of increasing student success, intercultural understanding, research capacity, entrepreneurial activity, and sustainability. The Associate Dean's responsibilities include oversight of enrolment and student progress, student recruitment and retention, financial and administrative planning, and facilitating accreditation, articulation and partnership arrangements.
The Associate Dean brings a strong commitment to collegiality and consensus-building across organizational, disciplinary, and program boundaries. The Associate Dean works proactively to build relationships with the professional community and external stakeholders to advance the opportunities for partnerships and collaboration.

Term: Full-time, four (4) year term appointment with potential for renewal.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional profile suitable for appointment as a tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor in Law
- LLB/JD and LLM; PhD preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service activity.
- Extensive record of service including significant administrative contributions, e.g., as Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, School/Department chair or program coordinator.
- Experience in curriculum, policy development and the academic approval process.
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
- Experience working in responsive and meaningful ways in support of Indigenizing higher education and accelerating Indigenous peoples' successful outcomes in legal education an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to handle situations that require diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Experience in making difficult decisions, communicating these effectively, and taking action.
- Experience relevant to managing, including employee recruitment and selection, reviewing, conflict resolution, and contract negotiation, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated financial management skills, e.g., project and budget management.
