Life Course Centre Working Paper Series

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (the Life Course Centre) is a collaborative research centre that is focused on transformative research and translation to break the cycle of deep and persistent disadvantage. Its vision is to leverage evidence-based, cross-disciplinary academic research to develop new knowledge and solutions for reducing disadvantage for children and families over the life course and across generations.

This Working Paper Series is a high-impact mechanism for disseminating research that summarizes existing knowledge in a systematic manner, or explores, questions and deepens current knowledge of social and economic disadvantage, and contributes to the development of innovative solutions to address it. The pre-publication series enables researchers to share their findings in a timely and accessible way that does not prohibit subsequent publication in most peer-reviewed journals. This allows the Life Course Centre to bring the very latest research on disadvantage directly to the people with the best chance of putting it into practice and creating effective change.

Since 2014, the Life Course Centre Working Paper Series has consistently demonstrated high levels of impact among non-academic audiences and has a proven track record of informing and influencing important policy discussion. The papers are promoted on the Life Course Centre website, newsletter and social media platforms, and distributed to key media and public policy communications channels. They are a valuable resource for policymakers and have been heavily cited across many major government reports and inquiries, providing prominent exposure to researchers and their research topics.
