Job Description & Qualification

The Commercial Credit Risk Analysis Division (CCRAD) of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has openings for financial economists and senior financial economists. The OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks, federal branches, and agencies of foreign banks and federal savings associations. Financial Economists in CCRAD conduct quantitative analysis and research to provide supervision support and to advise the OCC senior management on policy and regulation in commercial credit risk and enterprise risk, including operational risk, stress testing, securitization, asset management, capital and net revenue modeling. Financial Economists in CCRAD also conduct research and analysis on the topics of banking, financial markets and general financial economics.

Salary and Benefits: Salary starts from $160K for financial economist and is competitive and commensurate to experience for senior financial economist. Requirements
At the junior level, candidates will have a demonstrated interest and capability in understanding commercial credit or financial markets, as evidenced by completed scholarly research work in related areas or defending their research dissertation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field in a timely manner, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience. At the senior level, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise as evidenced by a substantial publication record and/or significant financial industry experience in related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and participate on bank exams reviewing banks’ quantitative models used in commercial credit markets and enterprise management.

About the Organization

The Commercial Credit Risk Analysis Division (Commercial Credit RAD) specializes in risk identification, measurement, modeling and analysis in commercial credit risk and enterprise risk. Commercial Credit RAD primarily contributes to direct bank exam, other bank supervision support, as well as industry outreach in these areas. The Division also provides quantitative expertise and analysis to support intra-agency, interagency or international policy development. Staff actively conduct original research that is aligned with the Division’s missions and OCC priorities.
