Job Description & Qualification

Job description : the successful candidate will teach social work (at the doctoral level, with some of the courses open to BA and MA students) and will create and then manage the Transdisciplinary Institute of Social Work (ITTS) located in the Faculty of Economics and Business (FSE).He/she is interested in social work as a study object (with a capacity to analyze social problems in an open, disciplinary manner, and with experience in applied research in the field), and in its scientific and professional issues, in cooperation with the other faculties, the other disciplines and the other institutions (in particular Universities of Applied Sciences - HES). He/she has a good knowledge of this field and its network. More specifically, he/she is able to teach quantitative and qualitative research methods in the field of social work (whether collaborative/participatory, experimental, based on case studies or intervention-oriented), with a marked interest in the development of innovative methods. In terms of research, he/she develops fundamental research projects and projects oriented towards application and intervention on pecific social work issues.

Requirements: applicants must hold a PhD in social work, a qualification deemed equivalent, or a PhD in another discipline, but with a focus on social work itself. He/she demonstrates strong coaching and teaching skills in the field. He/she has a good knowledge of theoretical discussions and practical issues related to social work, both in Switzerland and internationally. He/she has extensive experience in empirical methods and social work research. He/she has a record of high-level scientific publications of international significance, as well as ongoing research with great potential. The person hired will have to demonstrate a vision for the Transdisciplinary Institute of Social Work (ITTS)and its functioning, as well as management skills. Courses will be taught in French and English. Non-French speakers are expected to teach in French after a two -year period. German is a clear advantage.
