Job Description & Qualification

The Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (RSFAS) in the ANU College of Business and Economics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow (Academic Level A4) on a full time fixed-term appointment up to 3 years.

The position is offered in connection with the project “Transport and Productivity, a study on Australia’s Largest Trading Partner”, jointly financed by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and RSFAS. The project involves researchers from ANU and the University of Chicago. The team aims to expand a Geographic Information System (GIS) database on transport networks and analyse the effects of transport infrastructure on local economic development, productivity and resource allocations. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the guidance of the project leader and is expected to actively engage in and initiate discussion of ideas, models and methods.

The team is seeking a well-trained PhD graduate in economics, finance, geography or related social science areas who is highly research-motivated to join the collaboration. The ability to learn or apply knowledge across disciplines is highly desirable as is a combination of expertise in economic productivity and GIS networks. Candidates who have a good foundation in related tools and methods and who demonstrate a fast-learning capacity will also be considered.
