Call for expression of interest - Assistant/Associate Professor in Data Science

Job Description & Qualification

The Department of Data Science and Analytics at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway invites outstanding scholars to express their interest for an Assistant Professor or an Associate Professor position. Candidates from any relevant field are welcome, with a preference for candidates with a background in business analytics, machine learning, statistical learning, and/or artificial intelligence, including their applications to business. The appointments start in the fall 2025.

The Department of Data Science and Analytics has a bonus system for publications in selected journals with a generous per publication reward system, and we provide ample support for research-related activities and conference travels.

The successful applicant must hold a doctoral degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics or a closely related field, have a strong research record and possess good pedagogical skills. Further qualifications include experience of research and studies relevant for a business school and international research network. A track-record of international work experience and collaboration with the business or public sector, including R&D work, research dissemination and research-based advisory services, is appreciated.

Teaching will be conducted at the undergraduate, graduate, or PhD levels. The candidates must provide documented teaching abilities (e.g., a teaching certificate, experience in teaching, experience in course development, and creation of teaching materials). Proficiency in oral and written English communication is also a request. Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is preferred, but not required.
