Job Description & Qualification

The Haskayne School of Business invites applications for an academic position in Finance. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (with tenure). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2023, or a mutually agreed upon date.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a prolific and diverse research environment in the Haskayne School. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses relevant to their core area. In terms of research, the successful applicant will be expected to conduct high-quality research, evidenced by publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, securing external research funding, and maintaining an active profile in their field.

Candidates for the rank of Associate Professor will have:
- A Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field;
- A strong record of research in finance or economics with multiple publications in highly-ranked (Top 3) finance journals;
- Demonstrated impact on the profession in terms of citations and professional activities;
- A strong record of presentations at top conferences in the field,
- A demonstrated ability to teach at the graduate- and undergraduate-level;
- A demonstrated willingness to provide service to the university.

Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor will have:
- A Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field;
- Outstanding potential to develop research in the fields of finance and economics, as demonstrated by already having at least one publication in a highly-ranked (Top 3) finance journal;
- A good record of presentations at top conferences in the field,
- Demonstrate an ability to explain complex concepts for audiences at different stages in development (undergraduates, MBAs, Ph.D.)
- Willingness to contribute to the finance department, the business school, and the university, beyond immediate research and teaching activities.
