Job Description & Qualification

SKEMA Business School (https://www.skema.edu/) invites applications for two positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate or Full), in the Accounting area, to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will develop and/or lead academic research projects with the aim of publishing in the field's highest quality journals.

We encourage applications from scholars with a focus on quantitative research in accounting but are willing to consider other research methods. The school offers a vibrant research environment with strong established groups, e.g. in finance and AI and seeks to expand one in Accounting. The candidate will be expected to: produce excellent research; teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in accounting; contribute to student mentorship; and participate in projects related to the SKEMA SKY25 corporate strategy.

The position is permanent with a full-time contract. Salary and conditions are competitive, in line with international standards. SKEMA Business School offers publication bonuses for peer-reviewed publications. The language of work and teaching is English. Knowledge of French is not required, and is not a criterion for selection. SKEMA Business School offers support in learning French.

Qualifications must include:

• A Ph.D. in Accounting or related field.
• Evidence of recent research productivity (for application to associate and full professor) and teaching excellence in accounting or related fields.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a collegial environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to service and/or outreach activities.

ABOUT RESEARCH

The hired candidate will be part of the FAIRR Research Center, which is dedicated to promoting top level academic research in Finance and Accounting. The research center comprises about 25 faculty members in finance and accounting and more than 10 PhD students from the internal PhD program in finance and accounting. FAIRR members are particularly focused on developing high-level expertise in the areas of digital finance, entrepreneurial finance and governance, intermediaries and financial regulation, alongside other corporate finance, market finance and accounting topics.
We organize regular research seminars on the three French campuses, host international workshops and run a PhD program with a dedicated Finance & Accounting track. Moreover, our researchers have access to a wide range of databases, including WRDS (CRSP, Compustat, WorldScope, ISS, IBES...), DealScan, SDC, Datastream etc.
Our members have presented their work at academic and professional conferences and international institutions. Their work has led to publications in top-ranked journals in finance, accounting, management, economics and entrepreneurial finance (including American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice).
