Job Description & Qualification

The Boston University (BU) Questrom School of Business seeks strong applicants for our PhD program in Accounting. We are looking for bright students with solid academic credentials, relevant work experience, and a strong desire to pursue an academic career in research and teaching. The BU PhD program has a demonstrated record to mentoring (including co authorships), and an emerging record of placing our PhD graduates in faculty positions at strong research universities.

The Accounting PhD at BU is an economics-based program where students apply knowledge of economics, finance, decision theory, and statistical inference to important accounting research questions relating to disclosure, tax, financial accounting, international accounting, financial analytics, and corporate governance.

The BU campus is located close to the heart of cosmopolitan Boston, one of the most vibrant academic cities in the world. The campus is within 10 minutes of multiple other major universities such as Harvard and MIT.

Our PhD students do not pay tuition and receive a generous fellowship throughout their studies. We also provide our PhD students with opportunities to receive additional research assistant stipends. Our PhD program has small classes, easy access to faculty, world-class research and computing resources, and travel support to attend academic conferences.

Information for Applicants:
Applicants to the Boston University Accounting PhD Program typically possess:

 MBA or Masters in Economics/Finance/Accounting
 Relevant work experience in Economics/Finance/Accounting
 Intellectual curiosity
 Excellent analytic and quantitative skills
 Demonstrated record of outstanding academic
 An entrepreneurial drive
 Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications
