Job Description & Qualification

The Accounting and Information Systems Department in the Wisconsin School of Business seeks an Assistant Professor in the field of Accounting. The position would be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate students in Accounting and Information Systems or a related field at the Wisconsin School of Business, conducting scholarly research, contributing to the Accounting PhD program, and performing university service. Preference will be given to scholars doing research in one of the following areas: management accounting, auditing, or financial accounting.

Ph.D. in Accounting or related field by start date

- Candidates with new or anticipated Ph.D. degrees will have research under way that is likely to result in one or more publications in top tier journals and will have presentation skills that suggest future excellence in teaching.

- Qualified applicants will have demonstrated a program of high quality research with potential for publication in top tier journals, and will have demonstrated excellence in teaching.

The Chronicles of Higher Education recently ranked Wisconsin Accounting at the #1 position in its study of scholarly productivity in the discipline on a per-faculty member basis. Public Accounting Reports ranked our programs very highly. The department continues to lead the nation on the number of interns we place at the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and we continue to be in the top set of schools on CPA exam first time pass rates. The Wisconsin School of Business offers degrees in Accounting at the undergraduate, master's (IMAcc & GMAcc), and PhD level. The School currently enrolls approximately 3000 undergraduates (sophomore/junior/senior level), more than 500 Postgraduate students, and about 50 Doctoral students.
