Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Finance (Open Rank, with strong preference for Assistant Professor)

Job Description & Qualification

The Department of Finance and Real Estate in the Kogod School of Business at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-line faculty position to begin in the Academic Year 2023-2024.

Qualifications. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching and a commitment to university service. Preference will be given to candidates at the assistant professor level, with consideration of higher ranks in exceptional circumstances only. By August 2023, candidates should have a doctorate degree in a relevant field which qualifies the individual to teach a variety of finance courses, coupled with a demonstrated ability to produce high impact research. Although the primary teaching focus is in finance, candidates in a broad range of fields are encouraged to apply, especially those with expertise in a complementary applied field such as sustainability/ESG, climate risk, cryptocurrencies and other alternative investments, fintech, and issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates should also share American University’s commitment to inclusive excellence.

Responsibilities. Candidates are expected to teach relevant courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels (modalities include in-person, on-line and hybrid formats) and participate in department, school, and university activities. Candidates are also expected to play an important role in expanding the department’s and the school's research portfolio.
