Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Accounting

Job Description & Qualification

Applications are invited for a full-time tenured or a full-time probationary (tenure-track) position in Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Finance in the I. H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. The appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor depending on experience and qualifications. The start date for the appointment is July 1, 2023. Salary is competitive, and salary and rank will depend on qualifications, experience as well as research and teaching records.
Duties for the position include research, teaching at Undergraduate and Graduate levels, and professional service (for the School, the University, and the Community). Candidates applying must have completed or nearly completed a Ph.D. in Accounting. A successful candidate who is close to completion of their Ph.D. may be appointed to a term position at the rank of Lecturer until successful completion of their degree, at which time they will convert to a probationary (tenure-track) appointment as an Assistant Professor. We are open to a broad range of research interests, but the successful candidate must have the ability to teach tax. At the Assistant Professor rank, candidates must display a promising research agenda and have demonstrated success in teaching. At the Associate Professor rank, candidates must have a strong research orientation, a demonstrated record of high-quality publications and successful experience in academic teaching. At the Professor rank, candidates must demonstrate leadership in research, an excellent record of high-quality publications and successful experience in academic teaching. The normal teaching load at the Asper School is four courses per year (e.g., 2 + 2). Substantial start-up research funding is provided to new faculty members, as is a fully paid six-month research study leave after three years (which extends the maximum untenured period).
