Job Description & Qualification

The School of Accountancy in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications from qualified candidates for two open rank faculty positions in accounting. All areas of expertise will be accepted. Previous top academic journal publications and leadership experience in AACSB Accredited Accounting PhD programs are desirable for one of the positions (Position A). No prior experience is required for the other position (Position B). Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities include publishing scholarly research in top academic journals, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and service. The successful candidates are expected to contribute to the accounting concentration in the PhD program. The expected starting date is September 1, 2023.

Minimum Qualifications-Position A
1. Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB International accredited institution.
2. Record of high impact scholarship as evidenced by a portfolio of high-quality published and ongoing research.
3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in accounting courses at the college/university level.
4. Experience in leadership position in AACSB Accredited Accounting PhD programs.
5. Desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
6. To be considered for a tenured Associate Professor position, the candidate must be a tenured faculty at a peer-level or higher university and have a demonstrated record of research and teaching excellence. Minimum Qualifications-Position B
1. Doctoral degree in accounting from an accredited institution (ABDs will be considered, but the doctoral degree is required no later than the proposed start date).
2. Potential for high impact scholarship as evidenced by a portfolio of high-quality published and/or ongoing research.
3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in accounting courses at the college/university level.
4. Desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
5. To be considered for a tenured Associate Professor position, the candidate must be a tenured faculty at a peer-level or higher university and have a demonstrated record of research and teaching excellence. Additional Information
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
