ABOUT OUR TEAM: SSRN is an open access research platform used to share early-stage research such as preprints, conference proceedings, working papers, white papers, etc. It is an Elsevier company devoted to providing "tomorrow’s research today.” SSRN hosts content across the full research spectrum, including the applied sciences, health sciences, humanities, life sciences, physical sciences, and social sciences. SSRN is instrumental as a starting point for students and faculty in the research process and as a place to communicate their findings at an early stage, prior to publication in academic journals. Our platform helps scholars share their research with millions of readers around the world.

ABOUT THE ROLE: Contributes to SSRN goals by running the Classification Department with excellence, including managing, hiring and training 45 (or more) part-time and fully remote subject matter experts who classify research papers into relevant taxonomies..

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the paper classification process and team, ensuring that content classification aligns with SSRN’s overall objectives.
- Manage the paper classification process and team, meeting and exceeding productivity and quality goals.
- Provide accurate and actionable reporting.
- Ensure that SSRN’s websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive product/service information.
- Provide leadership and foster a climate of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to accomplish shared goals such as capacity growth, system integrations, technological automation and platform
- Support Content Director in company-wide undertakings including content growth initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidate will have experience in scholarly publishing, digital publishing, or online content platforms.
- Experience managing others, ideally with experience managing remote workers and working with multi-location teams.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services
- Ability to use standard business software such as Excel, Outlook, Word and aptitude with sharing platforms such as Trello, Sharepoint, Smartsheet, Confluence, etc. Ability to learn and use new software technology.
- Willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
- Experience in leading projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives.
- Librarian experience and/or education a plus.
- Experience and aptitude with social media a plus.
