The Northwestern Center on Law, Business, and Economics is excited to issue an open Call for Papers for the Second Annual Empirical Research Workshop and Conference on Standardization, to be held at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL from May 6 to May 8, 2020. This event will combine a data user session on Wednesday, May 6th, and then a 1.5-day conference over the next two days.

The data user session will include a presentation and Q&A regarding the Searle Center Databases on Technology Standards and Standard Setting Organizations, as well as presentations and discussions of other available sources of empirical information on standardization. The conference will feature presentations of empirical research on standardization in economics, management, law and adjacent fields. The workshop will adjourn in the afternoon of Friday, May 8, 2020.

This roundtable is an opportunity to present promising standards-related research to a specialized group of experts from various fields of research as well as industry practice. The agenda of last year’s roundtable is available here for your reference.

If you are interested in presenting at either the conference or data user session, please submit a paper or proposal no later than close of business on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

• Please indicate if you are submitting for the data user session, or the general conference session.
• For the conference, an extended abstract can exceptionally be considered, but a draft paper would be preferred.
• For the data user session, please provide a proposal (not more than 2 pages), or extended abstract.
• Please also indicate whether you might be interested in serving as a paper discussant.
