Following the successful launch of the first annual conference on CSR, the Economy and Financial Market in Tokyo, Japan, the 2019 Conference will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Third Conference aims to spur research and debate regarding the economic effects of corporate social responsibility. Theoretical and empirical papers dealing with the effect of CSR from a purely economic perspective, a financial management view, the markets vantage, or with aspects of CSR reporting and disclosure are invited. At the author’s discretion, accepted papers will automatically qualify for a fast-track review for possible publication in a special issue of the Global Finance Journal with the journal’s submission fee waived.

The topics relevant to the conference include but are not limited to theoretical and empirical papers dealing with:
1. The role of banks, institutional investors, and financial markets in CSR
2. The effects of CSR on valuation, financial performance, cost of capital, funding and capital structure
3. Corporate governance and CSR
4. Risk management and CSR
5. CSR reporting and disclosure
6. Integrated reporting
7. CSR activities and the economy, both at the macro and micro levels

ORGANISATIONAL INFORMATION
The conference will have a workshop format to allow for extensive discussion and feedback. Accordingly, a small number of papers will be accepted for presentation. The conference is scheduled to take place on the campus of WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Düsseldorf.

A keynote address will be delivered by Karthik Ramanna, PhD., Professor of Business & Public Policy at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.

IMPORTANT DATES
Deadline for submission is June 15th, 2019 and acceptance decisions will be sent by June 30, 2019. All submissions and communication should be made at: csr2019@whu.edu.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Original and completed manuscripts in English, and in PDF format, should begin with a title page that includes the names, e-mail addresses, and affiliations of all authors as well as a 200-word abstract and key words. A blinded copy of the paper should also accompany the submission in the form of a PDF file.
