Early Career Forum and New Ideas Session at the 61st Annual Eastern Finance Association Meeting
Description
The Eastern Finance Association will host an Early Career Forum and New Ideas Session on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, as part of its 61st Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. The event is intended to facilitate networking and enhance career success for finance faculty who have not yet been tenured. The program will feature three panels before lunch, a networking lunch, and then two concurrent afternoon sessions where faculty can present new ideas for feedback.
ATTENDANCE
The forum is open to those who have a tenure-track faculty appointment and are not yet tenured. Capacity is limited. Priority will be given to those who apply to, and are accepted into, the New Ideas Session. After that, priority will be given to those who have a paper scheduled for presentation at the annual meeting. The remaining spots, if any, will be allocated by the forum organizer. Those who are selected are expected to attend all events associated with the forum.
The New Ideas Session is an opportunity to present, and get useful feedback on, a research idea in its early stages. You should have a research question and some preliminary results. You need not have a completed paper. In addition, you should not submit to the New Ideas Session an idea that is already a working paper being presented at the conference.
APPLICATION
There is no cost to apply. However, if accepted, you must register for the conference (the fee is $295). Furthermore, you are expected to make every effort to attend: we fully anticipate that there will be more interest than capacity. We hope you share our commitment to maximizing the beneficial impact of this event on early career faculty. The deadline for applying is January 17, 2025, and acceptance decisions will be sent by January 31, 2025.

You will be asked to submit a 200-word description outlining your research idea if you apply to the New Ideas Session. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please email director@easternfinance.org.
