Description

The Department of Finance of Durham University Business School invites submissions for the third (3rd) Durham Conference for Finance Job Market Papers to be held on 19th and 20th June 2025 in Durham, UK.
The conference is open to early-career researchers defined as scholars in finance, and related fields, that have recently completed their PhD or that will complete their PhD by December 2025. The aim of the conference is to stimulate academic interactions, build professional networks, and exchange ideas between early-career researchers and established colleagues in the field. Invited presenters will receive feedback on their job market paper from selected senior researchers in their field.
The organising committee invites submissions of complete working papers in all areas of finance, including corporate finance, banking and financial intermediation, household and real estate finance, fintech, asset pricing and financial econometrics.

Submissions should include a complete draft of the paper and an academic CV. Please send all documents by 31st January 2025 to the Department of Finance (business.dept.finance@durham.ac.uk) using the header “JMP Conference Submission”. We aim to send out notifications on the status of the submission by end of February 2025. Submitted papers can be co-authored by senior academics, but the presenter must be an early-career researcher as defined above.
We expect to accept up to 8 papers to be presented at the conference. For each paper there will be a 30-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute discussion given by a senior academic and a 15-minute Q&A session. The conference will be held in person. Some financial support may be offered to presenters towards covering travel and accommodation costs. In addition to the academic sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to network throughout the conference.

The Department of Finance is part of a triple-accredited Business School located in the historical city of Durham (UK). The Department has a broad range of research interests, and its members have published in leading academic journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance and many other field journals.
