Carl Liggio Memorial Call for Papers on Management Reporting Structures
Description
The Association of Corporate Counsel is sponsoring the Carl Liggio Memorial Call for Papers. One paper submitted in response to this call for papers will be selected to receive a financial award of up to $20,000. The winning author will also be expected to present the paper at ACC’s Chief Legal Officer Global Summit in Barcelona, Spain. Runner-up awards are also available.
Topic
We encourage submission of unpublished papers on one or more of the following topics:
• Corporate management reporting organization and/or structures
• The role(s) of the general counsel/chief legal officer (GC/CLO) within an organization
• Relationship between members of the C-suite and the board of directors
A focus on one or more of the following questions is also desirable:
• What are the impacts of management reporting structure on an organization’s legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance; risk management; and/or other key corporate functions and obligations?
• How does the GC/CLO’s role and/or position in the management reporting structure influence their ability to advocate for and/or oversee compliance with legal and ethical considerations within the organization?
• How can reporting structures and board access foster diversity and inclusion within the legal department, and what impact does this diversity have on the organization as a whole?
The deadline for paper submissions is Monday, January 6, 2025.

Please note that the selection of winners/finalists, if any, is at the sole discretion of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
