Global Supply Shocks, Trade Frictions, and Inflation
Annual International Journal of Central Banking Research Conference
22-23 June 2023
Hosted by the Central Bank of Ireland

The International Journal of Central Banking (IJCB) is organizing its 2023 annual conference, “Global Supply Shocks, Trade Frictions, and Inflation.” The conference will be hosted by the Central Bank of Ireland in Dublin on 22-23 June 2023.
The program committee comprises of Klaus Adam, Daragh Clancy, Refet Gürkaynak, Òscar Jordà, Robert Kelly, Keith Kuester, and Robin Lumsdaine.

There have been several global and sectoral shocks over the past few years that have impacted supply, trade, and economic activity. The impact has hit economies heterogeneously, albeit with persistently elevated inflation a common feature. The current economic environment has raised several policy questions. This conference is seeking both empirical and theoretical policy-relevant papers that can answer questions such as the following.
• Should central banks respond differently to supply versus demand-induced inflation?
• Has there been a structural change in the persistence of inflation?
• What are the macroeconomic effects of changes in international trade arrangements?
• What is the best way to communicate policy intentions at different levels of the policy rate?
• What are the potential benefits/costs of coordinated monetary and/or fiscal policies?

Approximately eight papers will be selected for presentation from those submitted in response to this announcement. There is no obligation that a paper submitted to the conference also be submitted to the IJCB. But, papers accepted for the conference may be invited to receive an expedited review process at the journal. Papers considered for publication in the IJCB cannot be under review at another journal.

Submission guidelines:
• Complete manuscripts (not abstracts) in PDF format should be submitted using our online submission website at:
• Submitted papers must be received by 1 March 2023.
• Authors must indicate (in the comment field when submitting online) whether they would like their paper to be considered for submission to the IJCB in addition to the conference. Authors submitting a paper to the conference and to the IJCB must confirm in the comment field that their submitted paper is not under review at another journal.
The author(s) will be notified by 20 April 2023. For academic presenters without access to their own funding, some funds will be available to cover reasonable travel and hotel expenses.
