Description

Announcing a Track for Academic Finance Papers at the UK's Conference of Student Managed Investment Funds SMIFUK23

The University of York and the Griff Investment Fund are again hosting the UK's SMIF conference

Date of event: 8th – 9th March 2023

Venue: York Guildhall, central York, England

Student managed investment funds (SMIFs) are very popular in the US and Canada. Many SMIFs have now been set up in the UK but until 2022 the only conferences had been in the US. We ran the UK’s and Europe’s first SMIF conference very successfully in March 2022. In 2023 we are expanding the conference to two days and shall hold it in the historic surroundings of the Guildhall in central York, which hosted King Richard III when it was newly built in 1483.

In 2023 we are adding a track of academic papers that are relevant to small investors such as SMIFs, in addition to the track of presentations by SMIF members, donors and industry professionals as last year. You will present your paper to a mixed audience of other academics, SMIF CIOs and risk officers who will soon be working in the finance industry, existing fund managers and donors. There will be an Outstanding Paper Award with a £1,000 cash prize. All topics in finance will be considered but your paper should be of interest to people who manage small (mainly equity) investment funds.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCESS: Please email your paper to SBS-SMIFUK@york.ac.uk . The deadline for submission is 18th December 2022. Authors will be notified on or before 10th February 2023. We prefer face-to-face presentation during the conference on 8th – 9th March 2023, but we will consider online presentations by non-UK authors - please advise if you require this.
