Accounting Ph.D. Program 2023 West Virginia University

West Virginia University Accounting Ph.D. Program Accepting Applications

The Accounting Department at West Virginia University invites applications from outstanding students for the Accounting Ph.D. Program starting in the Fall of 2023. The department’s PhD committee will begin reviewing applications on December 1, 2022. The application deadline is January 15, 2021.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Accounting at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics is comprised of a group of talented scholars who focus on impactful research in various disciplines of accounting. These include, financial accounting, corporate governance, fraud and forensics, auditing, accounting information systems, and data analytics.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Accounting Ph.D. program is a full-time, year-round, resident program of study. The program is designed to be adapted and individualized to the research interests of our students. To help ensure student success and provide opportunities for research, each of our students is paired with a faculty mentor at the start of the program. The faculty member will work closely with the student and will serve as a research mentor throughout the duration of the program.

We provide students with a rigorous grounding in the accounting research literature, and support our students with the empirical, methodological and theoretical skills required to conduct original accounting research that impacts practice. Our program is designed to be completed in four years. The first two years consist of coursework, followed by two years of independent research supported by mentoring faculty.

We will be holding a virtual recruiting session to provide additional information about the program. Zoom meeting information can be found at:
