PhD Positions in Finance at the Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF) starting in the fall 2023


The Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF) is a center of excellence in Finance and offers a structured five-year PhD program in Finance. It is located in Vienna, run by the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the University of Vienna, and the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).

VGSF offers a stimulating learning and research environment and financial support to outstanding students from around the world. The faculty includes professors and junior faculty from IHS, the University of Vienna, and WU. They are distinguished experts in their area of research who publish in prominent journals. Your profile:

Applicants for the Ph.D. positions must have a master's degree in Finance or a related field of subject (e.g. Economics) that entitles them to enroll in a PhD program.

Candidates should submit a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) score that is no more than five years old.

Applications must include a motivation letter, two reference letters, a proof of their English competence (e.g. test score), a detailed CV, and grades from all stages of academic development.

The minimum gross monthly salary is € 2,293.95 (for 30 h per week, paid 14 times per year). The VGSF offers annual travel allowance for attending conferences.
