12th Miami Behavioral Finance Conference
University of Miami
Miami Herbert Business School
Coral Gables, FL 33124, USA
December 8-9, 2022
The University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School is organizing its twelfth Behavioral Finance Conference. The conference will be held at the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, Florida.
The conference is sponsored by the Department of Finance at the University of Miami.
The keynote speaker will be Wei Xiong from Princeton University.
Papers from all areas of behavioral finance and economics will be considered. Researchers from other related disciplines, such as experimental finance and neuro-finance, are encouraged to submit a paper. We also encourage submissions from junior researchers and doctoral students.
The organizing committee is also glad to announce that the Review of Financial Studies (RFS) will sponsor the conference. This allows authors who submit papers to opt for the DUAL SUBMISSION option. The Sponsoring Editor is Lauren Cohen. See below for more details.
If a submission has already been done, the corresponding author should modify the submission to indicate whether the paper is to be considered for the dual submission option. If no selection is made, the paper will not be considered for the dual submission option.
Additional information about the conference can be found at https://bus.miami.edu/umbfc. Papers can be submitted through the conference website.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Papers can be submitted through the conference website (https://bus.miami.edu/umbfc).
Papers that are in an early stage (but completed) will be considered. Please do not submit a paper that has been accepted or close to being accepted for publication in a journal.
Submission Deadline: August 15, 2022. Authors of selected papers will be notified by the end of September 2022.
The Miami Behavioral Finance Conference and the Review of Financial Studies announce a combined submission process. At your option, your paper submitted to the Miami Behavioral Conference will in addition be considered for publication by the RFS free of charge. The rules for this dual submission process are as follows:
1. You must expressly indicate you are interested in consideration by the RFS.
2. At the discretion of the RFS Sponsoring Editor, a small number of dual submissions will be invited to submit to the RFS. The RFS will waive the fee on such submissions and have the submission formally reviewed. In this case, the paper’s author will receive a copy of the RFS reviewer's report.
3. Papers submitted for dual consideration must not be under review at another journal or the RFS, nor can they be considered for dual submission if previously rejected by the RFS.
4. In the event that a dual submission that has been invited to submit to the RFS is subsequently rejected, its authors have the option to submit a future version of their paper to the RFS without prejudice.
While under consideration as a dual submission by the Miami Behavioral Conference and the RFS, a paper may not be submitted to another journal (or the RFS) until the author has been notified of the dual submission outcome.
For more details please see the SFS website at http://sfs.org/dualsubmissionpolicy/.
The conference will take place on December 8 and 9. We plan to have 6-7 papers on day 1 (December 8) of the conference and possibly 4-5 papers on day 2 (December 9). We plan to allocate 45 minutes to each paper so that the presenter has 20-25 minutes followed by a 15-20 minute discussion and questions from the audience. The conference will conclude on December 9 in the afternoon.
We typically receive about 200 submissions and accept 10 to 12 papers for the conference.
Please let us know if you need financial assistance since we have a limited budget to cover travel expenses for presenters and discussants. Note that the registration fee is waived for presenters and discussants.
If you are interested in participating, please register for the conference before November 30, 2022.
