The Howard University School of Law Research Paper Series contains abstracts, works in progress and published papers written by the School of Law faculty. The Series displays a broad range of scholarly work ranging from civil rights, human rights, and social justice, to local to international theory and practice. Howard University School of Law opened its doors in 1869 to provide education for Americans traditionally excluded from the profession. In the 20th century, the School of Law became the embodiment of legal activism for justice in America. Howard Law alumni have been agents for social change continuously for more than 145 years. For this century and beyond, the objective of the Howard University School of Law is to produce superior professionals, capable of achieving positions of leadership in law, business, government, education, and public service creating a just society in the national and global community.
