The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the position of Finance, Assistant/Associate Professor/Lee Professorship, Lee Business School [18549].

JOB DESCRIPTION: This full-time position involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting significant financial research leading to publications in premier academic journals, and performing appropriate internal and external service activities. There is a strong preference for candidates at the experienced Assistant or recent Associate Professor ranks, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2018 or later. The hire is expected to contribute significantly to the proposed Masters in Quantitative Finance program which is expected to start in Fall 2019.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a doctoral degree from an AACSB accredited university. Additionally, candidates must have demonstrated excellence in both research and teaching, as evidenced by high quality finance publications and effective teaching evaluations. Experience in teaching quantitatively oriented finance courses at the graduate level is preferred. We seek candidates with excellent empirical and programming skills and an interest in teaching an empirical methods course using large financial datasets and supervising masters students' capstone projects.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions, and an endowment for this Lee Professor of Finance position provides additional support in the form of summer stipends and additional travel/research funds. UNLV offers an attractive package of benefits that includes a generous state contribution (14.5%) to a defined contribution retirement plan. Additionally, Nevada does not have a state income tax, and UNLV employees do not pay Social Security tax. Position is contingent upon funding.

TEACHING LOAD: Research-active faculty members typically teach a four-course load (2/2) per academic year.

PROFILE OF THE COLLEGE AND DEPARTMENT: The Lee Business School, which is accredited by the AACSB, is home to approximately 85 faculty and 4,000 students, including 500 graduate students. The school offers nine bachelor's degrees and six master's degrees. In 2012, the Lee Family pledged a $15 million naming gift for the Lee Business School. Part of that gift endows ten Lee Professorships in the business school, including this position.

The Finance Department has 12 full-time faculty members who teach in the undergraduate Finance, MBA and EMBA programs. Finance faculty members have published in journals like JF, JFE, TAR, JFQA, FM, JCF and JBF. Research resources such as the WRDS platform, CRSP, Compustat, Institutional Shareholder Services (RiskMetrics), Execucomp, BoardEx and FactSet are available and there is an active research seminar series.
