Chaired Position in Finance

Smith School of Business at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario CANADA) seeks a Full Professor or Senior Associate Professor for the Smith Chair of Finance. This is a new position and one of a select number of Chaired Professors named in honour of Queen's alumnus Stephen J.R. Smith, whose generous $50 million gift in 2015 resulted in the renaming of the school: The Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business at Queen's University. While our preference is for a starting date of July 1, 2018, the search will continue until a qualified candidate is selected.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be an acknowledged international leader in the field of Finance with an exemplary scholarly record of accomplishment. The applicant will have: a demonstrated record of sustained contributions to top-tier peer-reviewed publications in Finance journals; internationally recognized accolades or awards; and strong endorsements by letters of support from other scholars in the field with a high global stature. It is expected that the incumbent will enhance and contribute to the mentorship of an already successful Finance research group at Smith School of Business. The objective of the Chair is to expand and enhance the international reputation of the School's Finance area.

COMPENSATION: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointees will have access to substantial internal funds to support their research and course development activities through Smith School of Business Research Program and the Smith Faculty Development Fund.

ABOUT THE AREA: Kingston, Ontario is a unique Canadian city of 125,000 with a distinct blend of history, recreation, industry and learning. Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, it is within a two-and-a-half hour drive of the commercial, industrial and political hubs of Toronto, Montreal, and the nation's capital, Ottawa, and a thirty minute drive from the international bridge linking Ontario and upstate New York. The city is the origin of the historic Rideau Canal system - a UNESCO World Heritage site.
