Full Professor of Endowment Management (Ref.no. 2017-07)

WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for the position of a Full Professor of Endowment Management at the Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics. The position is fully funded through a donation from POK Pühringer Privatstiftung/ P&K Pühringer Gemeinnützige Stiftung and will be granted for a five years' period.

ABOUT WU: WU is one of the largest business universities in the European Union and is centrally located at the heart of Europe. The University maintains an excellent position as a center for research and teaching and attracts an international group of students and faculty. It offers a broad range of undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs in the area of business, economics, and business law. WU has been granted triple accreditation by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA, and is a member of a number of international networks such as PIM and CEMS.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The new professor of Endowment Management will join the Institute for Finance, Banking and Insurance and the Research Institute for Capital Markets at WU's Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics. The Research Institute for Capital Markets offers the Portfolio Management Program, which allows students to gain valuable practical experience in asset management in addition to their theoretical knowledge, and the Endowment Management Program, which establishes and administrates an university endowment at WU. He or she will further increase the academic reputation of these institutions and will lead the two programs at the Research Institute for Capital Markets. The successful candidate is expected to have established an international reputation as a researcher in his/her field and to have an outstanding publication record.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: a) a solid academic qualification (e.g. PhD, habilitation) in Finance or a related area; b) a strong academic background in applied asset and endowment management commensurate with academic age; c) an outstanding international reputation in the area of endowment asset management; d) the ability to lead the Research Institute for Capital Markets and to build and administer an university endowment; e) teaching qualifications at undergraduate and graduate level; f) proven international experience; g) a strong record in attracting research funding; h) leadership qualities and i) gender mainstreaming skills.

The successful candidate will participate in teaching programs at all levels (bachelor, MSc, doctorate and executive education) and we expect the new professor to take an active role in the ongoing development of the academic programs. Teaching experience in English is required; teaching experience in German is not necessary. Non-German-speaking candidates will be expected to acquire proficiency in German over a certain period of time.

The new professor is expected to take an active role in the University's self-governance.
