The European Banking Authority is a regulatory agency of the European Union established in 2011 to ensure effective and consistent prudential regulation and supervision across the European banking sector. Its overall objectives are to maintain financial stability in the EU and to safeguard the integrity, efficiency and orderly functioning of the EU banking sector. The EBA Staff Paper Series, which was launched in 2018, includes Staff Papers aiming at disseminating the insights of the EBA staff in their area of expertise, stimulating the discussion among the financial community, and contributing to the advancement of the EBA knowledge of policy, supervision and economic matters.
