The Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) Research Paper Series features findings and analysis from some of the world's leading economists on trade and investment, international finance and exchange rates, macroeconomic policy and crisis response, globalization and human welfare, and studies of major economic regions. PIIE's research covers topical issues and is aimed at government officials and legislators, business and labor leaders, international organizations, university-based scholars and their students, experts at other research institutions and nongovernmental organizations, the media, and the public at large. Formats include Policy Briefs, which are short papers that assess a current issue, provide relevant context and background, and policy recommendations, and Working Papers, which convey the preliminary results of PIIE research and typically employ extensive and sophisticated economic models and analysis applied to a broad range of issues.

The Peterson Institute for International Economics is an independent nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to strengthening prosperity and human welfare in the global economy through expert analysis and practical policy solutions. The Institute is committed to rigorous, intellectually open, and indepth study and discussion and is regarded as Washington's premier think tank on the global economy.
