We are pleased to announce the creation of the Biochemistry Research Network (BiochemRN), which focuses on 12 major areas of scholarship. SSRN's newest network provides a worldwide online community for biochemistry scholars and for the sharing of ideas across a broad spectrum of early stage research.

The following BiochemRN areas are available and subscriptions will be free during the start-up phase.

BIOCHEMICAL MECHANISMS

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biochemical-Mechanisms.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biochemical-Mechanisms

Description:This area includes content relating to the mechanisms by which biochemical reactions occur. The ways biomolecules are regulated, how they interact with each other, and how they are broken down are just a few mechanisms that are being explored in today's research. Once biomolecules have been synthesized, the role they fill in their designated pathways, as well as how they are decommissioned, is the focus of this area of research.

BIOCHEMISTRY APPLICATIONS

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biochemistry-Applications.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biochemistry-Applications

Description:This area includes content on where biochemical principles are applied. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of biochemistry, there are myriad fields that biochemical principles can shine light on.

BIOCHEMISTRY EDUCATOR: COURSES, CASES, & TEACHING

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biochemistry-Educator.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biochemistry-Educator

Description:This area is designed for the sharing of teaching materials in biochemistry. All materials related to biochemistry are encouraged. This includes casebooks, reviews of casebooks, lecture notes, class summaries, outlines, supplementary materials (for your own or someone else's book), syllabi, problem sets, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and other teaching materials.

BIOCHEMISTRY METHODS

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biochemistry-Methods.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biochemistry-Methods

Description:This area includes content on experimental methods developed and used in biochemical research.

BIOCHEMISTRY NEGATIVE RESULTS

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biochemistry-Negative-Results.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biochemistry-Negative-Results

Description:This area includes content in which negative results were found. Negative results are instances in which the expected outcome of the research was not borne out by the results. The negative results area includes papers that have controversial or provocative results that challenge established theories as well as papers that replicate or support findings published elsewhere.

BIOMOLECULES

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Biomolecules.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Biomolecules

Description:This area includes content on all biomolecules. This includes lipids, proteins, amino acids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and other small molecules.

ECOLOGICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Ecological-Biochemistry.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Ecological-Biochemistry

Description:This area includes content on ecological biochemistry, or the study of the role of biochemistry and chemistry in the ecological relationships of different organisms in their abiotic environment. Ecological biochemistry focuses on the identification and quantification of molecules that interact with a different organism and the mechanism of the interaction. Ecological biochemistry also features the fate and transport aspects of molecules that interact with a different organism.

ENZYMOLOGY

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Enzymology.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Enzymology

Description:This area includes content on the study of enzymes. There are classes of reactions that enzymes catalyze, such as the aldol reaction, the Claisen condensation, formylations, and isomerase rearrangements. How quickly enzymes catalyze reactions and what other molecules are necessary for them to perform their functions are also of interest, especially in the field of drug development.

MEDICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Medical-Biochemistry.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Medical-Biochemistry

Description:This area includes content on biochemistry in relation to medicine and the health sciences. Topics included are: Biochemistry of Drugs, Clinical Biochemistry, Human Biochemistry, Medical Biology, Organ Systems, and other topics.

NATURAL PRODUCT BIOCHEMISTRY

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Natural-Product-Biochemistry.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Natural-Product-Biochemistry

Description:This area includes content on how native biochemical systems function and self-regulate. One of the foundational tenets of biochemistry, understanding biochemical pathways and reactions, is what allows more advanced research.

PROPERTIES OF BIOMOLECULES

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Properties-Biomolecules.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Properties-Biomolecules

Description:This area includes content on the chemical and physical properties of biomolecules.

PROTEIN CLASSIFICATION

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/Protein-Classification.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=Protein-Classification

Description:This area includes content on the classification of protein. Proteins can be classified by structure and function, and linking like-proteins can shed light on the unknown.
