Visual, Performing & Fine Arts Research Network

Visual, Performing & Fine Arts

Visual, Performing & Fine Arts is an interdisciplinary space that contains scholarship on modes of expression based on the image or, more generally, visual expression. The Visual, Performing and Fine Arts Research Network on SSRN is an open access preprint server that provides a venue for authors to showcase their research papers in our digital library, speeding up the dissemination and providing the scholarly community access to groundbreaking working papers and early-stage research. SSRN provides the opportunity to share different outputs of research such as preprints, preliminary or exploratory investigations, book chapters, PhD dissertations, course and teaching materials, presentations, and posters among others. SSRN also helps visual, performing and fine arts scholars discover the latest research in their own and other fields of interest, while providing a platform for the early sharing of their own work, making it available for subsequent work to be built upon more quickly.

Broadly defined, art is the use of imagination or creative skill to produce works to be contemplated and appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. The core of this research contains studies of artistic expression of all varieties including the history of art, scholarly criticism, decorative art and design, studies of the moving image, theater, and dance. This space also contains scholarship on the legal aspect of the arts, management of cultural institutions, and heritage studies as well as exhibition reviews, essays on contemporary art, and theoretical works on the philosophy of art and aesthetics.
