Head of School of Accountancy

Massey Business School (New Zealand) is seeking a Head of School of Accountancy, to provide academic leadership and work with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean), to lead a large and diverse School across three campuses in Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Massey Business School has a proud history of academic and administrative excellence, teaching business studies since 1972. We are accredited by AACSB, Association of MBAs and are a CFA partner school. In 2017, we were ranked in the world's top 150 internationally in Finance and Accounting in the QS rankings. Massey Business School has a positive culture that enables scholars to flourish in their teaching, research and professional service, including engagement with industry and the accounting profession.

The School of Accountancy is a leader within the University in teaching and learning innovations and international connections, having led the way in introducing a number of new practices to enhance teaching quality, especially in online/digital learning. Additionally, the School has established several successful relationships with overseas that have built its international profile and international student enrolments. Impactful research is emphasised and the School has a growing research profile.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful in appointment to this role, you will be a dynamic, innovative and effective academic leader, who possesses a clear and compelling vision to shape the future strategic direction, academic development and research achievements of the School of Accountancy. Sound financial planning and management skills, along with excellent human resource management abilities, are also essential for this role. This role will offer you an outstanding opportunity to further develop a well-established and internationally recognised School.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Appointment will be on a permanent (tenured) basis, with the role as Head of School being an initial term of five years, after which time a further term may be available. Preference is for candidates appointable at Professorial level, although Associate Professor may be considered for the right candidate.

The Head of School can be based at either the Auckland or Manawatu campus, with a preference for the latter. The Manawatu campus in Palmerston North, which is the University's original home base, is renowned for its beautiful park-like setting of trees and attractive gardens. More about the Manawatu campus can be found on: http://www.massey.ac.nz/manawatu. The Auckland campus at Albany, is our newest campus, with construction beginning in the early 1990s. The campus is growing rapidly, as is the Auckland region. Albany is one of the northernmost suburbs of the Auckland urban area in New Zealand. Auckland regularly features in international rankings of the best places to live. For example, In 2017, the UK- based Telegraph ranked Auckland number 3 in its '20 greatest cities to live in'.
