Three Tenure Track Positions in Accounting
The Department of Accounting in the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University invites applications for three tenure track positions. One position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and two positions at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment will commence July 1, 2018 or at such a time as may be agreed. The department is supportive of any active research program but candidates whose scholarship activities are closely linked to the mission of the Sobey School will be preferred. The Sobey School of Business, through active learning and the creation and mobilization of scholarship, prepares citizens of the world to lead sustainable, entrepreneurial businesses and communities.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicants will have strong research credentials and teaching potential, with an earned doctorate in hand or nearing completion at the time of appointment. To be considered for a rank above Assistant Professor a significant record of scholarship is required. A professional accounting designation is also desirable. A commitment to research excellence and student engagement at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Accounting has a full-time complement of sixteen faculty members, supported by several part-time professional instructors. Faculty research spans a wide range of topics and methodologies including behavioural experimental, archival, qualitative and field based approaches. The Department also hosts the Centre of Excellence in Accounting and Reporting for Co-operatives (CEARC) and its associated Journal of Co-operative Accounting and Reporting (JCAR). The Department administers the largest and most comprehensive undergraduate Accounting program in Atlantic Canada with over 400 majors. Our very successful MBA-CMA program graduated more than 400 professional accountants over the last 12 years. The new program, and fully accredited, MBA (CPA Stream) began admitting students in the 2016-17 academic year.
ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY: Saint Mary's is one of Canada's oldest universities (founded in 1802) with a rich history and tradition.
