Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Accounting

The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position in Accounting commencing July 1, 2018.

The Telfer School of Management has launched a Ph.D. program in the fall of 2016 which includes a field in Accounting. A new graduate diploma in Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) has recently been developed and will be launched in the fall of 2017. We are seeking a scholar in Accounting with specific research and teaching interests in the field of auditing or financial accounting, ideally with a CPA designation or equivalent. Priority will be given to candidates in the field of auditing.

TITLE OF THE POSITION: Accounting scholars at all academic ranks.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Primary roles will be to provide academic leadership and to assist in the delivery of new programs. As a member of the academic staff, the selected candidate will perform, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities with particular emphasis on courses in auditing (or intermediate/advanced financial accounting); b) scholarly activities; c) academic service activities; and d) supervision of graduate students.

TERMS: Tenure-track position

SALARY & BENEFITS PACKAGE: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and typically starts at $125,000 per year in the field of accounting. The University of Ottawa provides a complete compensation package, which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa pension plan, optional life insurance, and reimbursement of eligible relocation expenses. Benefits also include a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Ph.D. in a related discipline; professional accounting designation and/or an interest in teaching auditing (or financial accounting) within a graduate professional diploma in accountancy in addition to teaching auditing (or intermediate/advanced financial accounting) at the undergraduate level.

Work experience:
- Commensurate with rank and experience, a high-potential program of research as demonstrated by articles published in good quality peer-reviewed journals;
- Strong teaching competency at the undergraduate, professional (MBA) and Masters and/or Ph.D. levels as demonstrated by past teaching evaluations and a presentation given to faculty members and students if invited for an interview; and,
- A successful record of graduate student supervision as evidenced by having graduated and published with several students.
