Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Accounting
Accounting at the University of Otago has a long history, and the Department includes some of the most outstanding teachers and researchers in the Business School and the University. We are AACSB, EQUIS, CA ANZ, CPA Aust. and ACCA accredited. Our students regularly make up more than half of the Dean's list of outstanding students in the School.
Our Faculty is internationally-recognised for its scholarly contributions in the fields of: Auditing, Performance Measurement and Management, Capital Market Research, Financial Reporting and Business Education.
We have excellent archival databases including Audit Analytics, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, CRSP/Compustat, DataStream, Orbis and SIRCA. We also have strong research productivity and representation in leading accounting journals as well as staff who serve as editors and on editorial boards.
JOB DESCRIPTION: We particularly seek new colleagues who are team focused and will augment and bolster our existing teaching and research strengths including Management Accounting and Financial Accounting. However, we encourage applications from people who teach and research in all accounting-related themes.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in accounting or equivalent.
- Proficiency in research and publication in accounting.
- Strong commitment to quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- A research agenda aimed at internationally-rated journals.
Previous industrial experience and or a professional accountancy qualification are desirable attributes, but not essential. Candidates nearing completion of the Ph.D. degree may be considered only for the Lecturer position. Applicants for Senior Lecturer need a well-established teaching, research and service record.
