The Department of Accountancy invites applications and nominations for a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor [Ref. B/131/49].

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Business has a total of about 160 faculty members within its six academic departments. All six departments are well known in the business community for their professional standing and academic reputation.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Accountancy has over 25 full-time faculty academic members. It provides state-of-the-art accountancy education with a professional emphasis. Research is strongly and actively encouraged and the Department has been successful in obtaining numerous competitive research grants both within and outside the University. Over the last two years, faculty members have been very successful in having their papers published in or accepted for top-tier journals in the areas of accounting and finance, including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Banking and Finance and Journal of Corporate Finance.

The Department is offering a very active PhD Program in Accounting, and has been very successful in placing PhD graduates at other universities in Hong Kong and overseas. Further, the PhD graduates have been successful in publishing their papers in top-tier journals such as The Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting and Economics. Research seminars with eminent professors from the top US universities have been part of the Department's regular activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The posts are tenable from January 2018/September 2018. Most undergraduate classes are conducted in the day time, with evening teaching for the taught postgraduate programs. There will also be some additional undergraduate or postgraduate supervision of projects and thesis.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: publication record in quality international journals and a dedication to quality teaching. They are expected to provide contribution/leadership in research, plan curriculum of studies and supervise postgraduate students. Candidates for Assistant Professor should possess a PhD or near its completion.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: The successful candidate will be offered appointment to an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
