The Medical Research Network, Medicine's first preprint server, is pleased to announce that we are hosting a preprint space for a new open access journal, Surgery Open Science. Surgery Open Science is affiliated with the journal Surgery and strives to incorporate the strongest tenets of the open science movement including supporting author preprints; having a fast, detailed reviewing process, aiming to return the first decision less than 30 days from submission; publishing manuscripts online following acceptance; and facilitating data sharing. As such, Surgery Open Science will provide leading edge dynamic, transparent, and interactive access to process and data.

Surgery Open Science will be publishing original, high-quality basic and clinical science research and timely, rigorous review manuscripts in the broad field of general surgery; papers will be of interest to an international audience.

The Surgery Open Science First Look is our second First Look to be housed on the Medical Research Network. It is a part of SSRN's continued efforts to expand the services we provide for Life and Health Sciences while continuing to give journals and authors the opportunity to share their research faster and to a larger audience. We are thrilled to be working with the Surgery Open Science team and are excited to see their First Look preprint space on SSRN grow alongside the likes of The Lancet and Cell Press. Come and read the newest Surgery Open Science First Look papers.
