The Amsterdam Centre for Contemporary European Studies ACCESS EUROPE is a cooperation of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). It is a platform for research, education and public debate about Europe, the European Union and its member states. ACCESS EUROPE has two main objectives: promoting co-operation in research and education between faculties at both universities, and thereby leverage Amsterdam's assets as a European capital and centre of excellence in the study of contemporary Europe; and offering a forum for dialogue and exchange on urgent questions concerning the dynamics and direction of contemporary Europe between academic researchers and a wide range of public and private stakeholders - local, national, and international. ACCESS EUROPE core affiliates represent a wide variety of academic disciplines from the Social Sciences, Law and Humanities. Our working paper series presents work-in-progress by our core affiliates as well as Visiting Scholars.
