The Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) is pleased to announce its 2018 Sixth Biennial Global Conference Online Proceedings. The Conference Theme was "International Economic Law in Unsettling Times". 150 papers were accepted for presentation at the Conference, which were reviewed by at least two members of the SIEL Conference committee on a double-blind and confidential basis.

The Conference was hosted for the first time in the US by American University Washington College of Law, on July 12-14, 2018, in Washington D.C. A three-day, large-scale event, the Conference featured eight plenary sessions with 21 high-profile keynote speakers, covering topics of international economic law in unsettling times, such as WTO Appellate Body, NAFTA and the implications arising from new rules, security based investment restrictions, financial policy and practice, new protectionism and international trade agreements. The Conference also attracted nearly 300 attendees from around the globe, including 158 paper presenters, 28 chairs, and 23 poster presenters. The attendees included academics, US and foreign government officials, diplomats, NGOs, practitioners, business community representatives, and Ph.D. researchers. It showcased 28 panels on compelling topics, such as security and necessity exceptions in international trade, multilateral trading system post-Brexit, digital trade and data governance, multilateral investment court, the right to regulate in international economic law, international economic law and human rights, and regulating finance.
