Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS) is a cross-asset investing group that sits within the Investment Management Division at Goldman Sachs. It designs and manages comprehensive investment solutions. These solutions reflect proprietary research and are customized to address specific client objectives and constraints, bringing together market-leading techniques for multi-asset portfolio design, management, and implementation.

With over 135 professionals across the globe, GPS invests or advises on over $100bn in assets across the world's leading corporations, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and family offices.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Key job responsibilities include:
- Thematic research which analyse global economic risk factors and structural economic changes that have the potential to significantly impact asset performance
- Research to enhance our framework for understanding the medium term, fundamental, drivers of returns across asset classes and geographies
- Owning investment risk, from research of a trade idea through its execution and the monitoring of that risk in the portfolio
- Communication of investment ideas and themes effectively and credibly to both internal and external audiences
- Working as part of a team and contributing to the mentoring and growth of junior investors
- You will be evaluated on investment performance, impact on client outcomes, and effectiveness within the broader team

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Ph.D. in economics or finance (recent graduate or due to graduate in 2018)
- A strong track record in conducting original research
- Experience with empirical work preferably in the areas of macroeconomics or asset pricing
- Demonstration of strong judgement and analytical skills, specifically the ability to distil complexity into an accessible and intuitive line of argumentation
- Ability to communicate effectively, modulate communication style to fit the appropriate audience, and work well with others to achieve desired outcomes
- Independent thinker, strong interest in markets and a passion for investing
- Highly organized individual able to manage multiple disparate tasks; strong team player
