Versatile Economist or Econometrist to Perform Empirical Research

JOB DESCRIPTION: As an economist, you will perform applied research into specific policy issues. You will proactively engage in dialogue with policy officers to achieve optimum synergy between research and policy. You will be part of a team of specialists conducting scientific research in all of the areas of responsibility of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).

Your key responsibilities as an economist will be:
- Contributing to DNB's research programme (see the link at the bottom on this page for more information).
- Formulating policy implications of research outcomes.
- Writing contributions to scientific journals.
- Holding presentations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: You have excellent analytical and research skills. You enjoy collaborating with internal and external parties. You are a result-oriented initiator. - PhD in economics or econometrics with top grades.
- Demonstrable affinity with and in-depth knowledge of macroeconomics and monetary economics.
- Demonstrable affinity with empirical research, preferably in the area of monetary policy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Dutch.

DIVISION PROFILE: Our Economics & Research division is divided into five departments: Economic Policy, Monetary Policy, Business Cycle Analyses, Econometrics & Models, and Research. The division covers a wide range of topics, including:
- monetary and budgetary policies, business cycles and price stability;
- financial stability and macroprudential supervision;
- microprudential supervision and conduct of financial institutions;
- financial literacy and behaviour of households and companies.

It also engages in building economic forecasting models that accommodate several alternative scenarios.

Some 70 staff work together in an informal atmosphere. We provide ample opportunity to participate in scientific conferences and research networks, training facilities, frequent job rotation within the division and DNB as a whole, and secondment to international institutions including the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.

- An annual salary consisting of 13 monthly payments and an 8% holiday based on a 13-month year.
