The Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) assesses and proposes policies and programs focused on the integration of immigrants and refugees to host countries throughout the world. Its research program is premised on the observation that we know very little about whether policies currently in place achieve their stated goals and actually foster the integration of immigrants into the host societies. IPL researchers rely on techniques that leverage experimental and quasi-experimental methods (such as micro-level randomized field experiments and natural experiments) with common study protocols to quantify the social and economic returns to immigration policies. With branches at Stanford University and the University of Zurich, IPL has affiliated faculty at Berkeley, Dartmouth, London School of Economics, Princeton and Uppsala. The IPL is committed to systematic evaluations of policies that meet high scientific standards yet also inform the policy-making community.
