The Center for the Study of Public Choice and Private Enterprise (PCPE) engages in research and educational programs to advance knowledge of the sources and causes of human well-being and the distinctive roles of entrepreneurship, free markets, philanthropy, private enterprise, and public policy in achieving it. The center is housed in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at North Dakota State University. While grounded in economics, PCPE supports and actively encourages efforts that cross traditional boundaries set by departmental and college delineations. The North Dakota State University Public Choice and Private Enterprise Research Paper Series publishes research of several forms. PCPE faculty and affiliates publish and archive working papers, policy papers, and serial reports, including a quarterly labor market report for the Upper Great Plains. Our research focuses on uncovering the institutions and policies that encourage and enhance human well-being. By sharing our processes and results, we hope our research will elevate public discourse and knowledge.
